Born in Haverfordwest, and growing up near Southampton, I set up Rainbow Images through the Prince’s Trust in the late 1980’s. Every aspect of life has been difficult due to having Cerebral Palsy (caused by lack of oxygen at birth).
Most mainstream jobs excluded me from employment, but, I wanted to use what I see as my main talent and gift from God, my photography, to provide for myself.
At first I had one set of 4 cards, which I sold door-to- door, in my local area but my product range has now expanded having moved after marrying a unique, and special Welsh girl!
My photographs are taken despite difficulty getting to dramatic locations. It gives me a real buzz to see, and sell my work on the web and also have real-time feedback from all sorts of people that are enjoying and buying
my work from world-wide locations, i.e. Finland, USA, Australia!
Wales is beautiful country, no location the same due to the diverse landscape and extreme weather, ‘the rain even comes up and hits you sideways!’ People on doorsteps are often amazed when I explain that I very rarely, if ever use a tripod, when I get a camera in my hands something happens and for some reason I am as steady as a rock, about the only time!
Fe’m ganwyd yn Hwlffordd a ches fy magu yn Southampton! Sefydlwyd Rainbow Images gyda chefnogaeth ariannol gan y Prince’s Trust yn yr 1980au hwyr. Mae pob rhan o fywyd wedi bod yn sialens anodd gan fod gennyf Barlys yr Ymennydd (diffyg ocsigen ar enedigaeth).
Er bod rhwystrau lu ym myd gwaith, roeddwn am ddefnyddio fy mhrif dalent a rhodd gan Dduw, sef ffotograffiaeth, i gynnal fy hun.
I gychwyn, dim ond un pecyn o 4 cerdyn oedd gennyf, a byddwn yn eu gwerthu o ddrws i ddrws yn fy ardal leol ond mae fy ystod o gynnyrch wedi ehangu ers symud a phriodi â Chymraes annwyl ac unigryw!
Her fawr yw ceisio cyrraedd rhai mannau i gael ffotograff da. Caf wefr o weld a gwerthu fy ngwaith ar y we a hefyd wrth gael ymateb bob dydd gan bob math o bobl sydd yn mwynhau ac yn prynu fy ngwaith ar draws y byd, fel y Ffindir, UDA ac Awstralia!
Mor brydferth ydyw Cymru, dim un lleoliad fel y llall, ei thirwedd a’i thywydd yn dawel neu’n wyllt, mae’r glaw yn codi fyny ac o bob ochr.
Wrth werthu mae’n syndod mawr i’r bobl pan fydda i yn egluro mai anaml fydda i yn defnyddio treipod, os o gwbl. Unwaith mae camera yn fy nwylo, mae’r pleser yn rhoi gwefr a hyder i mi ac felly wrth dynnu’r llun rydw i yn sefyll fel craig, am unwaith!
